Better Performance-Cycling.
There is a growing body of evidence that improving visual performance is essential if sporting potential is to be maximised. In sports vision we aim to maximise the performance of the eyes, improving their accuracy and stamina and as a result give the brain more time to work out what the next sporting move has to be.
The drive to improve eyeball skills follows the success of Sir Clive Woodward who took a visual coach to Australia to help the England team win the rugby World Cup.
Both mountain and road cyclists need good contrast sensitivity and dynamic visual acuity to perceive bumps or objects ahead. For outdoor use, the eyes have to be protected from the UV sunlight and from injury in the event of a fall. In Cycle sports if eye speed and accuracy of eye movement’s increase then the faster you can Cycle.
Faster Cycling
Hand-eye co-ordination.
Bike Position
Depth Perception.
Distance to bend/obstacle
Eye muscle control
Fatigue over length of cycle
Glare sensitivity
Different tracks have different lighting
Eye Position control.
Bumpy tracks require stable vision system
IF YOU HAVE NOT MAXIMISED YOUR VISION, ARE YOU CYCLING TO YOUR MAXIMUM POTENTIAL?
